I really enjoyed this series of photos. I've often caught a brief glimpse of this driving by, and thought it would be an interesting photo project. These are a great glimpse at a world that affects all of us, but at which most of us never really look.
Love the work Marty!!! I am a Millwright by trade, been doing this for 30 years, 10 years of which I was a certified crane inspector. Now I work in a cushy plant. I do miss my cranes!!!!! Hopefully my pictures can help me not be a Millwright, maybe one day.

neighbourboy, airfrogusmc, Andre Labonte, Squirrely Eyed, Thanks for the kind words.
Evan, you're right. Most people cross most bridges at about 80 mph without even noticing them. And that's okay, they can't all be the Golden Gate!
Jefferson...Fancy seeing you here. If I had know I would have stuck in a car shot.
OSOFAST, Cranes have come a long way since you and I started! The cabs in these 300 ton rigs look like a jet cockpit. I hope your photography does lead you to bigger and better things someday. Good luck!
Excellent series Marty! Two questions: what was the gear you used for the shots and did the guys give you any grief for taking pics while they were busting their humps? Ha! I have so much admiration for the job you guys do. I'm glad you shared these amazing shots.
bbelljr, Nikon D3s and D700 with 50mm f1.4, 28-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8. The guys enjoy the photos so they don't give me too much grief. They also get uncomfortable if I roll up my sleeves and get down in the dirt with them so I have lots of time to shoot.
Thanks Bill and pbraymond. Glad you enjoyed the photos.
film_4ever, #21 is an engineer. Just passing through on his way to something cleaner and quieter. Great guy though.
