It's a beautiful image, I enjoy your "signature" style very much. I would love to have some idea of what the before images look like - have you ever posted a before and after processing?
I can never tell with these if I should be encouraged by what I could aspire to achieve or be totally disheartened that my own skills are soooooo far away from this.
Lisa, I can't help but seeing this with a much tighter crop eliminating as much leg as possible and just capturing the two wonderful faces here. The warm tones are so welcoming here, gentle and reassuring, lovely shot!
Thank you!! Getting them both to look at the same time was luck, honestly. This was the only shot in the series where they both were looking straight at me. Cats are harder to wrangle than kids! haha
Karl, I do wish there was a better way I could crop this one, it's a tough one. To lose the legs and knees, I end up cutting into hands and arms and fingers get severed. I will play with it some more though and see what I can do.
I saw one of those shared Facebook posts of a beautiful scene with the words "Share moments not things". And it made me think of why I love photography so much. And looking at this photo I realized why your work is so special. You capture special moments. Everything about this photo evokes feelings that the viewer can relate to and cherish. The warm colors. The subtle halo of light that surrounds her. The gentle and loving way she is holding the cat. And the eyes that tell a story of a child and her pet.
I know when I am going through a few hundred photos the first thing I look for is a photo that has that 'special moment' quality. All to often I don't really have it and even when I think I do, the technical components may not be there. You are able to capture 'moments' and then enhance them with your signature style.

amazing as always, this is excellent.
Me, disheartened.
But what a wonderful image. Fantastic color palette, cute pose, great processing. Maybe a tad more on the bottom.
