you're killing me with these valley shots! i prefer the crop. i agree with jim on the intimate feeling it invokes. hope to make it up there soon...just to BE there.

Great shot Travis. When I saw the original post first, I agreed with everyone that I thought a crop would be better, but after seeing the crop, I guess I'm almost alone in thinking that the original is a (slightly) better shot. I love the feeling of grandness and scale in that first version.

Hi Kelly,
Good to know that the original works for someone...it is still my preferred version too...I might be attached to the color on the left because of how we felt when it started to build on that face and then lit up El Capitan. The scale and sense of size of the scene to me came through more in the wider version too...glad it did for you as well. Thanks again.
This is such a great shot Travis that it works in different ways in most crops - including the imaginary ones! Lovely light and colour. If pushed to choose, I might go for the original, too.

Thanks Martin, I appreciate you providing your point of view on the image. Glad the original works for you.
A beautiful, wide and deep vista. An impression of being there, of slowly waking up, as the morning light ricochets off the mountain walls, deeper and deeper in the valley.

Thank you Santiago, this is from sunset, so as the last light kisses off the mountains...it was a great way to end the day.
