Thanks Morris. It's tough to keep on the bird as they swoop down at high speed. The sensor likes to pickup fore and backgrounds much easier then.

Thanks Jim. As it turns out it was user error. In shot 8, my AF points were in the foreground water. The next two frames were off as a result. I recovered focus for the butt shots though.
