This is the follow on post from my previous one of my trip to Iceland at the end of May this year and covers the final days of our trip. I have finally finished writing the whole trip up on my blog if you want more details on our journey around the island. For these last few days we headed north to Husavik for a couple of days before heading back down to the south-west in an attempt to try and keep with the best weather. The images below are just a selection and I apologise in advance for there being quite a lot of them.
My favourite bird of the trip were the Great Northern Divers (loons). We do get these in the UK but it tends to be in the winter and so not in their glorious summer plumage. They proved quite tricky to photograph given their preference for large lakes and covering large distances underwater so you never know where they will pop up next after a dive.
Fantastic and interesting subjects! Great set of images, enjoyed each one of them greatly Richard.
Yes #2 is cool with the water beads, maybe the WB is a little cool in this one?
The Loons are special, simply stunning.
Black Tailed Godwit and Golden Plover are beauties.
Eiders are treats here, great work in the inclement weather, very nice coloring on these.
Incredible collection. I have been dying to take a photo trip to Iceland so these only fuel that desire. I am shorebird obsessed so all those shots really do it for me. I might have to pick the fulmar headshot though. So cool to see that much detail on the beak!
