After many trips to Schwabacher, I have concluded that this is the better scene compared to the beaver pond which has large weeds growing at waters edge at the prime spot and the trees have gotten so tall as to obscure much of the Tetons. My first trip in 2008 I could shoot 35mm, this trip 35mm clipped the treetops at the top and in the reflection.
I had color my first morning, and for the first time in maybe 5-6 trips.
Nice coloring here in this one. There are I think 3 or 4 really nice locations to shoot from down there, I still personally prefer right at the Landing itself but I have noticed more people are shooting it from the area you shot this and less are down at the landing, which is great for us down at the landing! As to 35mm there, I can't imagine shooting with that long of a lens there. For my money 14 to 16mm works best, but that's me.

What a marvelous scene! That red light on the peaks is unbelievable. Looks like you caught some great fall colors here as well.
Colors were still fairly good here and Oxbow but pretty well finished at the Snake River Overlook

very nice light. The bottom right corner is a bit distracting
I typically try to include as much of the bank as possible and also try for that cotton wood far right, but people got into my later shots so I had to tighten up.

Jim
Hi Jim, one of my top 15 is from the Beaver Pond with a crimson sky, I don't expect to beat that one so I work this place which I think is the main landing. At least it is the end of the road, I never stopped at the first parking area. But I did do the beaver pond the last day. I was first on site and had my pick, but as I say it is too constricted. I want the Tetons to be prominent, so I shoot as long as possible.
Gorgeous image Ben! You timed this shot perfectly for just the right amount of that alpenglow. I kinda like the grass bank to right for the added depth.
You folks out west are just plain spoiled I tell ya.

Thanks Dave, and thanks for your help at Critique to hone the processing.

You can take this off the bucket list. You got this one!!!!
Yep Jim, I told my wife this is probably the last fall trip to the Tetons, too many other places I want to visit in fall. Maybe spring though, and try to find those flowers.
