Hi Gregg...

Being a senior myself (71), I was expecting something a little more AARP-oriented.

However, I'm certainly not disappointed in finding your young daughter in a beautiful photograph. Great angle, exposure and processing. Very subtle and a very nice photograph your daughter will likely treasure until well after she hits my age.

Thanks
Tom

I'm not normally a fan of either sepia or bitonal (black and white, but this isn't white ), but I think it works well for this image.

The depth of field seems perfect. It nails the critical part of her face and then fades smoothly away.

It looks truly candid, not staged. There's a softness to the face that a conscious person has trouble faking.

Lovely image.

Thanks.

Dave

Thank you gentlemen for your gracious comments, I appreciate that. I've been sticking a camera in my daughters face fora long time, and now that she's getting older, I have to be a little sneakier.

Nice image, well done.

I agree with usphotog's comments. This has a timeless feel to it.

Gregg, man I really love this portrait. So beautifully handled and so unique in our FM world. Everything about it feels sensitive and tender.

I have one reverse vignette on my site and I need to take it down. It just doesn't work. In your photo, I think it lends a dreamy quality and it feels natural.

I will say I'd probably prefer it b/w without the sepia only because I don't think the image needs or benefits from it.

And your daughter is exquisite.

Well done buddy,

Chuck

as stated by chuck, certainly is a unique portrait.

the angle, limited dof, vignette, crop and sepia tone, all combined to create a dreamy mood suitable to the action of the image.

the image would make for a great book cover, an editorial article, or a candidate for a photo contest or art exhibit.

would be curious to know of her reaction on the candid portrait?
