The shadow area under the chair seems to show more color noise in the A7R. Not a lot of diff, but a diff.

That said: BSI structure works as advertised, which in this case receiving more lights than FSI structure even under exposure test cases.

Yes, there is a slight diff after the 5EV push and uber-critical viewing ... but it doesn't look anything close to a two-stop / 400% difference that some have previously purported the BSI structure benefit to be. It doesn't look like anything too challenging that a little nudge in color NR wouldn't render even more difficult to detect.

Based on this example (single data point), the A7R (fire sale) looks to be a bargain @ 1/3 the cost for 97% (not empirical) the IQ @ base ISO (noting other factors, such as AF improvement and IBIS are a diff valuation contribution issue).

Keep in mind that Sony has never claimed anything even remotely close to 2stop advantage at high ISO. That is hype from the forums, nothing else. Why is a 1/2 stop all of a sudden not good enough improvement from one body to another? Sounds like both the Sony and Canon have made useful improvements in the latest bodies. Good news for all that will use either camera.

Don't forget this A7Rii BSI version was based on 3th generation platform that one version behinds A7R. The next RS version is the one that benefits more on the good stuffs missing from A7R techies.
