I just got back from Orlando, 10 days with the family there. Like you, left my No. 1 and No. 2 cameras at home. I took my old Nikon D200 with a kit lens (18-135). It was quite a challenge working with that old thing.
Sweet shot, like the light you've captured over the Bloody Marsh and the soft glow of the grasses.
Looks like high tide at the little bridge on the East Beach Causeway. Have done that paddle from the causeway , out Gould Inlet and then back in at the East Beach Coast Guard Station.
St Simons probably one of my favorite paces and have been visiting every year since 1985. On our short list of retirement locations. Love exploring the Island by bicycles.

Nice memory shot for the family album.
A shot of them returning would also be nice - faces in the frame.....
Good point Jim. The problem is that this is not an out and back, you paddle through the marsh and come out at the beach on the eastern side of the island. The take out point is not nearly as photogenic.
Since you couldn't see their faces, I debated whether to post here or in Landscapes. I can make an argument for both.

You know exactly where it was taken! That's the route they took. I picked them up 1 1/2 hours later at the CG station.
St. Simons is also one of our favorite places. The water and the sand on the Gulf are prettier, but we still prefer St. Simons. I used to bring my Hobie 16 and Hobie 18 down to sail, it's a blast!
We saw a cute little 1800 square foot cottage at East Beach for sale. It's across from the parking lot at the last East Beach public access. I looked it up when I got home, it's only $1.2 million!
We're living in what will be our retirement home. It overlooks a creek and a hardwood bottom in the middle of 13 acres. It's 3 1/2 hours from St. Simons and 3 hours from the North Georgia mountains.
Is that the one that looks out at the Goulds inlet parking lot. It is a cute cottage. Believe it's been on the market for couple of years. Across the street there is a house on a good size lot also right across from the parking. When we 1st started going to St Simons it was listed for $60K. Boy I wish that we would have been able to purchase it then.
We had been staying at a house at Lands End, sits directly on Gould Inlet across from Sea Island, but last couple of years we've been staying on 11th street, a couple of houses from the marsh. Allready have reservations for the week of Thanksgiving.
My parents actually spent their honeymoon at the King & Prince back in the 40's when Dad was on leave from the military.
Are you up around the Macon Area? I'm just north of Atlanta.

It's at the corner of 15th and Bruce. If you are on Bruce heading to the parking lot, it's the house on the left just before you get to 15th.
We stayed in a house just behind Ocean Motion, where you turn to go to the K&P. K&P convenience without K&P prices. It's nice to be on the beach side of Ocean Road.
You know right where I live. We're about 10 miles north of Macon, 3 1/2 miles east of I-75. We can be at Hartsfield in an hour and 10 minutes. Our land is hilly and has its own microclimate. I work in Warner Robins. The leaves at our house turn two weeks before they turn at work. The trees at work bloom two weeks before ours. Stop by. We'll sit on the wraparound porch overlooking the waterfall in the creek and have a glass of sweet tea!
Were talking about the same house. On the other side of 15th but still on Bruce is the lot that was $60K back in the mid 80's.
Hear you about K&P prices. Went their for Brunch once, now we might go for a coffee or desert after diner. That a great location but I'm afraid I'd really gain weight. I'd spend way too much time at the Beachcomber BBQ. Wife loves their burgers but I liked the pulled pork.
Next time down your way I'll give ya a shout. Sweet tea sounds great.
Beautiful image. Colors and comp are exemplary. I can see it as double spread in Garden&Gun. The fact that it is a family shot makes it that much sweeter.
