How were conditions there this week David? I am going back in early December, hoping for golden marsh grasses, great skies, no people... and no skeeters!
Glad you like it, thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.
Friday night was mostly clear skies. Saturday thunderstorms. Hot. Huge mossies. Did I say hot?
Summer is often cloudy around here.
I think a Fall or Spring day would be ideal since the birds migrate through and the bugs lessen. Too far into winter and the milky way core disappears entirely. I've always wanted to go to this area for the August Perseids or December Geminids. You should try to catch the meteor shower in December if the moon does not interfere - I haven't checked yet.

Sounds about like our trip there a couple weeks ago...the skeeters were so dang bad, especially at Bodie...they were relentless!
I think the Geminids will peak after my window to go in December...I am timing it around a work trip to Carolina Beach the first week of December...I am not so worried about the MW being visible, going more in hopes of great skies for sunrise and sunset...and a clear night for star trails if I can get lucky!

Woah what amazing conditions! If you could have bracketed for the storm that would have been best. Sky/MW look a bit blue/cool to me. Easy fix with wb. Great result!

Great shot Travis! The storm to the right and light/shadow beams from the lighthouse really make this image stand out.
It's a shame the boardwalk wasn't built leading straight up to the lighthouse. That would have been a fantastic leading line up into the main event. Next time you'll have to bring a crowbar, hammer and a lot of nails with you to fix these little details.

Great shot!!

Thanks Greg. Those various light sources made the post work a real challenge!

HA Dave! Yeah, it would have been nice, but I can live with it not going right to it...that leaves the area around the lighthouse pretty open. Thanks for the kind words.
