By brother and I took a backpacking trip up to High Rock Lookout in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. These old fire lookouts offer some amazing views! It was incredible to say the least. Had to take a few landscapes while we we're up there.
I'm also a bit of a Star Wars nerd so I had to include an action figure in a few of the shots. Lol.
As always, CC is more then welcome.

This is an HDR image made out of 7 bracketed photos. I tried to keep it very subtle, but I'm sure if you know what you're looking at, you can tell is an HRD photo. This was taken right after a brief lightning storm came through with a light fog rolling into the valleys. The View by Matt Ferris, on Flickr

I really like #1 but wish you'd posted these a little larger as lots of detail is lost (or unseen) when viewing at small sizes. The layer of clouds just below the summit is cool.
Star Wars figure - personally it doesn't add anything for me, and I am a SW fan ! However I understand this is purely personal taste. Now if was a Harrison Ford figure or another character from Blade Runner or maybe even better Daniel Day-Lewis from Last of the Mohicans ......

Matt,
The 1st one is incredible! As for fitting in the star wars figure...for some odd reason it works!
Thank you, Sunny Sra!

Cool idea with adding the Star War outfit into the image. I like how the mountain ridge line points to Mount Rainier.
Thanks, Guy. The toy photography is just a lot of fun.

As for the Star Wars figures, I know it's not for everyone. I just have a lot of fun doing the toy photos. On that note, I'm gonna have to fine me some Last of the Mohicans figures, or maybe a Harrison Ford as, Indiana Jones. Lol.

Gorgeous light on the first and you've done a cool job with the scale of the figures.
Thank you, Cams884! Appreciate the comment.

Those are great. Like the HDR work - I struggle to get it to look this natural.
Thank you Steve! I just play with the sliders in Photoshops HDR feature. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Though I really think it helps with more then three photos.

Hey Matt,
Well these are for sure different! I like #1 the best, and while I am not a fan of HDR, your adjustments there worked out well.
With #2 and 3 the first time I viewed these I thought man, that's a lot of gear to pack in with you as you backpack, as I assumed it was your brother wearing the star wars gear. It was only on viewing these a 2nd time that I realized it was just a small toy figure. So nice work on shooting this to make the figure actually feel life size.

I love it.
Kudos to hiking your storm trooper gear all the way there.

Thanks, dgdg! I see you saw the other reply that this just a 6" action figure. No way would I want to do that hike with storm trooper gear!

Thank you very much, Jim. It can be a challenge making them look life size. Glad it came across that way. :-)

These are excellent. The HDR shot looks very natural and not over baked IMO.
