These are some superfine, outstanding images ever!!!! Your technique is impeccable and your subjects enlightening! Yes the people character is just great and brings a smile to my face. The one of the woman sticking her tongue out at you, or something, is priceless! Normally, I might say some images are underexposed but upon rethinking, the mood expressed by the entire image compensates for that.
Well done indeed!
Dan
Thank you everyone. Glad to hear I inspired some of you to go there. I suggest going there asap because in 2-3 years the area is going to be unrecognizable. China is investing billions into new cities, trying to raise tourism in the area by 3 times in the next 10 years. Lots of construction everywhere.
Stunning work and yes unfortunately it may all have changed by the time I get to see these places.
Who knows though, it may help raise the standard of living for the desperately poor people of these areas and other developing countries or am I hoping for too much?
Thanks!
Andy, you are hoping for too much. China is relocating villages, confiscating land and all that... It's not going to get better any time soon for most folks, unless they want to work in tourism business.
International travel can be a blessing to experience but it is no small undertaking often fraught with difficulties.
I love your work but it also pains me. With every photograph of yours I study, I really feel all the countless footsteps, conversations, translations, interpretations, artistry and effort behind each and every image.
I do not know what drives you, Dmitri, but you seem to lead a very interesting life I admire. I really appreciate you sharing your work with us all.
That said, in truth, my fantasy imaginings of you are that you think nothing of packing a kit, boarding a plane with no stress and simply finding your way without hesitation and a childlike sense of adventure knowing you'll work it all out and see things most of us never will.
