That is a cool shot! Where was this? My only suggestion would be to get rid of the airplane light. Even if it is a meteor that line really distracts from this wonderful shot. Yep.... got to get rid of that that line of light.
I agree with Jim and think once you get rid of the streak the bright spot in the fog will become a distraction. Quite a stunning image that you might want to print

Beautiful Image. What a great perspective. I used to Mountain bike there, extensively. Never saw that view thou :>
Thanks Searclight! It might be that the low-fog has hidden some of the hills and you cannot recognize it .

Wow! That is just fantastic. Those patches of light from below add to the feel of the picture.
Thanks Maritan! Those light patches looked amazing at night especially with the milkyway on top. Very nice view
There was some other comment but it has since been deleted. Just to answer that genteman's question: it's a three pic composite. Two shots of the MW to capture the core as well as the outer edge and then one for the foreground to keep noise low.

Interesting. Would you please elaborate on the two shots to capture the details in the Milky way? Maybe I'm looking for EXIF data on the two shots to start, and your thoughts on how you feel they help.

Love the edit here! This is getting my vote now!
And also I would be interested to hear how you captured the Milky Way so nicely.
Jim
I am glad you like it! Low fog substantially toned down the city lights allowing the milky way to really shine through. I don't have a star tracker so my best option was a wide angle prime and Nikon's 20mm 1.8g rocks! I believe my settings were: ISO 4000, f2.2 and 15sec and the MW came out quite bright.
Momentarily I thought there were two photos, one with milky way and the other, fogged mountain scene with two reflections from some sort of lights. But.. wow! how did you do have such a wonderful and clean/vivid milky way as well as those beautiful foreground scene so nicely at night !!! (ps: I am not sure if the title is appropriate here, though)
Thanks for sharing. You really do have good images in your Flickr site!

Sure the exif data might be missing but I used ISO 4000, f2.2 and 15sec for the two MW shots. It depends upon the circumstances cuz sometimes you need to take the shutter speed up to 30sec but that introduces more trailing in the stars.

Thank you for your words of appreciation Kee!
Since I am not a native speaker so my ability to come up with catchy titles is limited. Do you have any suggestions?
The MW is processed but the MW was as bright as I have seen in an urban setting. The fog shot was taken separately and it's a 5min exposure. I then blended the two together which in this case was easy but in some cases very difficult.

This is really, really cool. Congratulations
Thanks David! It was a sight to behold. Thoroughly enjoyed the time spent waiting for the MW to line up with the hill!

#Escaype rocks! Awesome low-fog prediction by #Escaype. Wouldn't have been possible without it.

Love the comp but for me I think I would prefer the ground layer to be darker. Just seems to be a mismatch with a full milky way above. Dave
Thanks Dave! I do understand that the foreground needs to be darker to make it more realistic but when I tried it the dark foreground was not working as well so I decided to go with the slightly less realistic but a better looking shot.
This is a beautiful capture...
Everything fits so beautifully, the rock hills, the trees,
the lights in the fog, the fog, and the majesty
of the Milky Way! Beautiful!
