On the DPReview spec sheet under file formats, it says "RAW (ARW 2.3)." Unless it's a new version, ARW 2.3 is the lossy compression used in current Sony cameras. Just wondering if there's going to be a lossless option.

Available June 17. Wow. Sure kept it under wraps. 42MP seems.... underwhelming. Such a very odd number. Sony has always been big with the multiples of 4, but there have been 14 and 18mp bodies. I don't see a 6mp bump as being huge. Need more info.
Yeah that is odd. When I read that I assumed it was something to do with enabling 4K APS-C readout without line skipping, but a quick napkin calculation reveals you only need 25 megapixels to do that...

Oddly enough the single one feature that excites me most with this announcement, I am probably alone on this btw, is the new x0,78 viewfinder
Oh how I miss large viewfinders! (using an Oly Em-5 at the moment).
Nah large VFs are very nice to have
You might try shooting an EM1 if you want to stick with m43, as its EVF (or the EM5 II) is much better than the EM5s.
Sounds good, but more expensive than I expected and coming (like the Batis lenses) after I've already left for my extended trip to Europe. At least that takes the rush out of my desire to get one.
The new shutter's braking mechanism cuts mechanical front/rear curtain vibration by about 50%7. Also, use the electronic front curtain for even less vibration. This not only minimizes camera shake that can blur details in 42.4-megapixel images—it makes the shutter durable enough to have been tested to 500,0008 cycles.
Silent Shooting features an electronic shutter that causes no vibration, so you can shoot high-resolution images without camera shake. This mode also operates without a sound, so it's very convenient for shooting without disrupting indoor performances and outdoor wildlife, and in all other situations where silence is essential.

Don't sell your A lenses so fast. Look at this
Additionally, the focal plane phase-detection AF system on the α7R II works well with Sony A-mount lenses when they are mounted on the camera using an LA-EA3 or LA-EA1 mount adapter. This allows users to enjoy the wide AF coverage of 399 focal plane phase-detection AF points, high-speed response and high tracking performance with a wider range of lenses. This marks the first time that the AF system of a mirrorless camera can achieve high performance with lenses originally designed for DSLRs.
MY Minolta 200mm 2.8 HS just became a superstar
This is very significant!! I have never been interested in LA-EA2 / LA-EA4 and have been hoping Sony would enable PDAF with LA-EA1/LA-EA3.
Prevent blur in a shot of a moving subject by setting a shutter speed at which ISO sensitivity starts changing when ISO AUTO (while in P or A mode, or in Multi Frame NR) is selected.
Good stuff indeed. For me I see the EFC and IBIS as main improvement. I would be interested to know if the faster AF affects also Canon lenses attached to the metabone adaptor or if this remains the same as in the A7R.
The sensor itself seems to be only slightly changed from the one used in the A7R if there isn't something added which we don't know yet. The backlit property might be interesting for higher ISO performance.
42 MP sounds interesting. The number is unusual enough to portend that it was made that size to include some really nice capabilities. I think the new shutter is very appealing. More than I wanted to spend, but I probably will.
