p.1 #1 · Safari Sunday...In two acts with intermission(Understudies perform)
A few of the less sexy critters putting on a show whilst on safari....whilst not part of the Big 7 (add cheetah and wild dog to the Big 5) these understudies can often make a game drive a whole lot of fun.
Here we have the players in two acts with an intermission...so as EL&P once sang...welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
Eric
Act 1...The hyena den with cubs of varying ages....the spotted one (next to mom) is about 3 months and the chocolate cub only a couple of weeks old. They will lose their dark coat and start gaining their spots at around 2-3 months of age.
Act Two
We spent about 20 minutes watching the antics of this baboon family....they provide an endless amount of fun to watch and video even if the still photographic opportunities are a bit limited.

Those Hyenas are nothing to laugh at. 😀 I have not yet seen babies out on safaris. Baboons are indeed fun to sit and watch, never a dull moment. Lovely series of photos.
p.1 #3 · Safari Sunday...In two acts with intermission(Understudies perform)
Great series as usual Eric. I've got to smile at #15, mom giving the stern look yet the little guy continues to pull his brothers hair. Reminds of my grandsons.

I love that baboon family #15. That starling is superb; well at least a superb shot of a Burchell's!! I love your hyenas! I think they are exciting to see and follow. The kids are very cute, but the adults.....not so much.
For a short safari you did pretty darn good!!

Thanks and yes, the hootin and hollerin is a bit eerie...the kids though are really cute, and not at all like the adults.

Thanks Birdie...I just need time...but since not a lot around to shoot, I do have more time to process.

It did seem we got a lot of quality in a short period of time...just lucky I guess. Thanks Don!

Eric,
these are wonderful images.
Thanks Mansur....it is nice to get something other than cats...at least every once in a while.

Wow, excellent set. The images are sharp, and there are some interesting interactions that you managed to capture. The adult Hyena (mom) gives me the shivers.

What a treat of a set, Eric. Love the subjects and captures. I enjoyed them all, but especially the baboons, and of those, #12 and 15 win the prize for me (the chap in #12 looks a bit like a furry Gollum ).
Question - roughly how many African safaris have you been on, Eric?
p.1 #16 · Safari Sunday...In two acts with intermission(Understudies perform)
Great set Eric. I enjoyed the hyenas especially. The intermission was nice. Those baboons are not the most photogenic but they need their day in the sun too.

Thanks Brian...observing behavior is so important when shooting in Africa....having a knowledgeable guide who doesn't just spew facts or is too bored to point out little things is so important. We managed to get some really nice footage as well from both of these sightings.

Thank you Morris...as you know my interests lie somewhat outside of shore birds and the like so when I get the chance to do these things my passion is fueled and glad it shows a bit.
