Canon 5DM3 | Canon 17-40mm f/4 with Circular Polarizer | Manual Blend of Two Exposures for Dynamic Range
Hi everyone,
Here's a shot from some recent exploration on Vancouver Island's west coast.
I recently published a blog post on my website with some tips about how to best utilize different types of weather and natural lighting conditions. It's aimed a little more at folks just getting started but it might be worth a look. If anyone is interested, you can find the post here
I love the shadows and highlights, they seem very realistic and natural. The composition might have looked even better if it had been possible to zoom out or step back and then crop to a vertical 4:5 instead of 2:3, (In other words, I love the top and bottom edges of this shot, but wish I could see just a *tiny* bit more on the left and right) ...however if you were at 17mm already then I understand. Great shot either way!

Jess,
This is a stunning image, great compostion and perfect choice for your SS. Great front to back detail the whole thing is extremely well executed. Regards, Dean
That is a pretty bad ass spot. Not quite sure when it was taken but getting the light down the cavern would be epic. This photo is a bit too left/right for me but the possibilities here are rad.
Love it! What a cool shot you have here. The composition is sure sweet with that water movement. I like the lighting in this, nicely done with handling it and processing it.
That's a great shot! I'm glad to see too that you got it with the 17-40mm L lens that everyone likes to gripe about. I've had one for years and I love it. I think it has a quality that no other has and I can see it here.
