Thanks Jim. I'm in Northern Saskatchewan. About 55 degrees north. We have some nice lights. Usually this time of year is the best for whatever reason. If I had to pick a spot to go to photograph aurora though, Iceland would be on my short list!

I know aurora shots are the rave these days and in some ways I feel like I am starting to see them too much, but these are a real treat! Must have been amazing to see in person!
Incredible! Stunning! I've seen them once almost like that over 30 years ago. Looking forward to the night I can see them that big again. Thanks for sharing!

I have no word to describe these pictures. Spectacular !!!
I am looking at Iceland. What time of the year do you think one would have good chance to catch these images?
Thanks for showing these magnificent images.

Bob, the challenge with aurora is there is no guarantee on it. Unless you're able to fly to Iceland on a few hours notice you're going to be taking a chance you wont get any aurora while there. You can't plan for it as it is all based on the sun's activity. Also, there is no guarantee that when the sun is active and produced a CME that it will hit earth. So many factors involved. All you can do is go there and HOPE you get an aurora show. FYI, shows like this one that Corey captured are NOT common. So my advice is, go to Iceland with plans to shoot its beauty, be prepared that IF aurora happens you have some ideas where to shoot it but do NOT go there with only plans of shooting aurora as you may not even get any while there.

thanks for the advice. I am thinking flying to Iceland for snow owls and aurora b. Both need luck, like always in photography and more so in this case. I was many time in Alaska and never got to see a decent one.

Thank you Bob. Iceland this time of year would be perfect. I have read recently that aurora affects the earth's magnetic fields most at the equinox when the field is at it's weakest point. My aurora photos always seem to be best in March.

Wow!!! Is this really all natural? It's truly amazing, I wish we had some of this action here in New England.
Nice work, thanks for sharing! Voted
Thanks Greg! This is as natural as the camera will allow. The reds/purple are stronger in my image than in real life. The greens are pretty accurate. Overall in real life, the whole scene would be about 1 stop darker to the naked eye than I have shown in my images.
Beautiful images Corey! I never get tired of the aurora shots, and this set is spectacular. Living in New England (where it is snowing as I write this! Enough already! ), I agree with BostonGreg and wish we had views of this unnatural natural display. We may be on the same continent, but it appears from your images that we are on different planets!
