With some of the threads recently being posted regarding maximizing ones photographic quality from monopods, tripods, long lens techniques, hand-held, core strengthening and post production skills, I thought I'd add one more, weeks months and years of photographing a subject.
If all things are equal, then the last may be the most important.
I am posting a collection of cardinals, 20-images taken over the last 9-years.

A fine collaboration of your favorite feeder bird my friend. Now for some comments. #1 is a great shot and pose, I might remove the subtle reflected light circles top left and bottom right. #2 could use some highlights toned down bottom left. #4 is a nice pose and image, I might run some NR on the bgd. #5 has lots of details, but the specular highlights on the upper beak could use toning down as well as removing or doing the same to that bright white object by her feet. #6-8 are nice poses with clean bgds. 
#9 maybe tone down upper beak, boost midtones lower shaded half of the bird or reduce contrast. #10 doesn't have the beak highlights like 9, so I prefer that one of these two similar shots. #12 is my pick of the next five. #16,17 and 19 are also my picks.
