I think that's actually blur - it seemed to be there in the RAW file if I recall. Seemed weird to me too, but not enough to toss the image MY processing may have made it worse though.
Spectacular shots. I'd pretty much given up shooting Great Egrets, I have so many of them. You've shown me the error of my ways. I need to work on my skills.
