We experienced quite a snow storm on the night of a strong aurora forecast. Unfortunately we had to race against the increasing clouds in rather challenging conditions.
Not much time for shooting but it was a great night!
You captured a special moment, it borders abstract. I like how much is going on, the view from earth, the local atmosphere, the aurora and you've managed to kick in a few stars to boot.

Bill, I think it is a bit of both... the 14 mm lens produces a bit of distortion but it was also very very windy from that direction making the trees lean.
An evocative, ethereal image - especially with the limited visibility looking into the blustery weather. The aurora looks like it is seducing the bare tress in its direction with a siren-like magnetism.

It wasn't all that cold, although below freezing but the howling wind and the snowdrifts made this rather uncomfortable.
Good job the cameras didn't mind these conditions in the least!

This was high in the arctic circle in Norway.
In the UK you can see the Northern Lights in Scotland and the islands if it is a very strong display but not down in the south where we live.
