As for luminosity masks, I realize that all selections in PS are 8-bit, but has anyone had any practical experience of this causing banding? Yes, I have had posterization in some of my older enlargements. It really blew my mind because I was working in 16 bit meticulously. Thus I inquired via Jeff Schewe (Adobe) years ago. He is the one who made me aware. As I weaned off of some of my "Live Selection" workflow / masking habits, the posterization ceased. I am currently doing more intensive research on the subject. Once all my questions are completely satisfied I may produce a video tutorial on the subject.
