If I may ask, where was your's shipped to? Mine went out to Newport News Friday and was received today. I've not used them before so I'll be interested to see if I get the same results.
gschlact, I can't speak for them but my copy would be spot on for one shot in a burst and over 1 foot off on the ones before or after. Until I deleted them today, I had numerous shots of geese in a field at 30 yards, where the AF point was directly on the goose but the plane of sharpness end before it ever got to the goose. This was tripod mounted with IS turned off on a 600II, singe point Servo, Case 2 (-2 0 0) Focus priority set to focus for 1st and 2nd. I've seen the same with flight shots, focus is just in front of the bird and far enough away to keep the bird OOF. That has been the majority of my issues - it's like Servo is predicting the movement way faster than the object is moving....Show more →
I've had very similar behavior with mine but I'm shooting with the 500II. Infuriating!!

Sent if for warranty but thru CPS. It just took a quick call to have them read the repair ticket to me.
Did you make sure to include your CPS labels on the outside of the package, as well as put that you're a CPS member on the inside of the package?
I know it sounds tedious, but they pull the CPS labeled boxes out, directly, and move them to the head of the line. It should also be in the nomenclature that you send in, because there is someone that opens packages and then sends the units to where they go. During the holidays, and sometimes during the summer, they use help that doesn't always have a full understanding of English (this is not me being xenophobic, but rather repeating what I was told by a CPS representative on the telephone).
Robert, Yes, I had the stickers outside and the forms inside. I got them back this evening. I'm taking a couple of hours to go to the lake tomorrow so I hope I see something to photograph. Pretty cold and dull here.
Called CPS and was told electrical adjustments also. he rep explained that, in general, that meant during testing, they could not duplicate the problem. However, based on my description of the issue, they (techie guys) go in and make modifications to the tracking system.
Guess we'll find out this weekend on some redheads (ducks, not ladies).
In defense of CPS, I sent my 1D mark IV out on Monday afternoon last week, I had it back in my hands Thursday morning. They calibrated the 1D, with a 300 2.8, and a 2x. Meaningful repairs on both the body and the lens. The Teleconverter needed nothing.
I was stunned at how quickly everything was taken care of. I am a platinum member
