I took this shot in Botswana several years ago. It remains one of my all time favourite images in this and a few other versions. And it is the most commented upon image that hangs on my walls. I took this image 10 minutes into my first game drive on the first morning of our trip. We had set out early, before sunrise and well before any other vehicles. The leopard posed for a short time and took off, well before any other vehicles had arrived. Sometimes it pays to get out there early!
Thanks for looking.
Don
And you just got around to showing it now It is a wonderful image and as you say, it probably is awesome composed various ways. I often wonder about the shots I've missed by only a few minutes. And yes, leaving camp before sunrise is the only way to go! Sleep is very over rated😉.

Thanks Eric. That's coming from a guy who doesn't sleep much anyway (Like me!!).
We miss far more than we get. It keeps us going back.

That is a stunningly effective image Don. I don't have any of my own images on the wall, but I would probably change that practice if I had something this good.
This is a beauty Don. Did you remove the little dark spot in the lower left before printing? I love the composition using the tree as a natural frame and it's amazing to observe how the leopard blends into the tree. I'd hate to walk under it by mistake!

awesome shot Don.. i wonder how old that tree is
Thanks Ken.
That is a famous tree at the old Savuti waterhole. They no longer pump water there since the channel flooded. As a result the animals have abandoned that area. The tree was silhouetted at sunrise in a picture that graced the front cover of a Nat. Geog. magazine about 25 years ago.
Glad you enjoyed it.
