Hey Ben, out of curiosity- I saw/heard you say somewhere that 4x5 would give you all the resolution you would ever need. Why the extra effort and cost of 8x10 then? Are there other advantages that I am not aware of?

The main reason for 8x10 is finer grain. If a 4x5 and 8x10 image are enlarged to the same big size (40x50 for example), the grain in the 8x10 shot will be 1/4 the size. This also helps with gradients and even seems to give more detail in dark/bright areas since grain does not obscure the very fine details. There's also something very rewarding about working with the 8x10 camera and viewing the image on the big (though dim) ground glass.
