Canon Rebel T1i + 55-250 Kit Lens v1, Manually Focused. How do I determine cost if I would have to pay someone to take this POS?
This camera was the display model at a Costco for who knows how dang long. It was used even when my father purchased it for extra cheap "new" from them. The lens is beat, which is why I had to MF the shots.
I have a full gallery of shots from this setup taken in a several hour period here.

I primarily use FxIF Data on FireFox and Exif Viewer v2.00 by Alan Raskin. They appear in the right click on the image box that opens when installed. I don't know what is available for Chrome, but you can probably install an Exif reader add on for chrome.
Got Exif Viewer for Chrome. Thanks. Did not know an extension was required.

Jerry, wildlife is kinda wild and most definitely has some life in them.
We are using current used value estimates for gears out of production. For gears still in production, we are using major retailers' price for new equipment.
Got it

Canon Rebel. My secretary asked me to try out her camera. She said her husband bought her a cheap piece of junk. I used it for 20 minutes. Brought it back. Told her it was more camera than she'll ever use and it ain't junk. She only used it on auto. Go figure.

That was a $1100 camera new. I absolutely loved mine and took thousands of great photos with it.

Peter, is it the value of the gear used or what one paid for it? Just wondering because I use a beater 40D that I got for free with an even more beater Sigma 500 f/4.5 that I also got for free.
Chuk, that's good for you, however, I really think we should go by today's representative retail prices, otherwise we'd have a mess on our hands. For example, most of my gear has been bought for me by my wife, so it's been "free" to me.

What was the lens ? Total camera + lens current retail value ?

I think she said she paid 500 bucks for cam. Course it was bout obsolete and stores getting rid of stock. Lens was 400/5.6 Can't remember what I paid for it 9 years ago. Almost a thousand I suspect?

No problem..... you are being honest about it. What is the total current cost of your gears ?
Looks like total current cost is just south of $400 ($357 for both lens and body at KEH!) ... But when this picture was taken, they were probably worth twice that.

OK, not sure yet, but this has taken the lead from Jason's cardinal.
