Thanks everyone!

Thanks and you really don't want a soft contrast image to represent an individual like this.

Then maybe you should've taken his advice as tonal contrast like that IS soft contrast. Plus your boy looks quite jolly so the impression of him being a badass isn't really there anyway bro. Whatever people gonna back up their friends bad pic or not it's like highschool around here. People with high post counts, a few assignment wins, or featured thread become mr or mrs popular lol. This is FM huh?

I think that being below the equator has reveresed his mouth with his deeaperature. Might need a "softbox" or LED light to see the hollowness between the ears! Mighty slim aperature at that...f 50 or higher
Yeah let's see what you got!!!!

Sorry Klaus..just no need to be this vile, irrational, obtuse..just stuck on stupid!

Thanks and perhaps so. I still live in the world where the photographer projects the image as they see fit. Not what someone else thinks it should look like. I am always open for suggestions though and appreciate the tips. Just don't think a little thing like this should start a bunch of shit

You are all free to take the image and show me how YOU think it should look like. Every photographer here will have their own interpretation which means there is no single right way to process an image. Lets put some money where your mouth is so to speak
Please have at it and lets see what you all got. I am always open for good advice!

BTW he is not so much of a badass but his environment and looks bring on the want to make it look a bit gritty and harsh. He lives in the New Mexico desert and should look that way IMHO

Klaus,
Don't sell yourself short because someone else doesn't like your stuff.
All three evoke a bit of emotion and tell a story. Those things far outweigh someone else's idea of perfect post processing.
I'm diggin' all three! Right on!

Wow, well that kinda got outta hand kinda quick !

Makes me think twice about commenting anything other than positive vibes but I don't know the history perhaps.

I will say this though, I follow Klaus on FB and here and love his landscape work.

I agree that the guy, because of where he lives / his lifestyle has GOT to be processed in a gritty semi hdr eggagerated detail kinda way as in pic #1 and similar to Klaus's self portrait - which only lacks and old school bottle of firewater and a shot glass if you ask me.

The B&W, hmmm, I like the treatment of the guy but not so keen on the background.

Andy

BTW - I live "down under" (Australia) but I'm from the UK so don't shoot me !

Like the first one in color best. The second is powerful. Very nice.
