It's tough to come up with anything great from these barns since they are so commonly shot but I finally snagged a good sunset over this dang barn...it only took me like 4 years of trying. And thankfully it was just near the peak of fall colors with tons of yellow on the ground. Now I don't have to go back, lol. Made the two-week road trip all worth it. Shot with A7r and Zeiss 2/35, 3-shot pano and no filters. There are still a few things I want to tweak on it but here goes. All feedback is welcomed. Thanks!
Wow, now that is a different take!
Love the fall colors, sky too.
I think this might work better as a 4x5 landscape as the upper sky seems pretty dark.
This is my favorite picture of this barn and I have been there at least 8 times. Hard to get a sunset there, this is usually a sunrise location. But you had enough reflected overhead light to make it work.
I have one image with those cottonwood leaves on the ground and never saw then again until this image.
A pretty cool shot here. I agree the clouds are a little too dark. To be exact, they are too black. Usually black clouds are made that way from HDR processing. So I would back off on that, as you have the makings of a fantastic shot here.
I will comment though, that I don't know why people seem to obsess over having to get something different from a well known spot. Just get YOUR shot, and don't worry about what others have taken. When we capture a scene really well, like you did here. I am totally NOT comparing your shot to any other shots, or even my own shots from here. I am simply enjoying a fantastic scene with some awesome light.
I think putting the pressure on ourselves to come up with something different is unfair, and can be detrimental to your creative process. Because instead of just taking the scene and working with it, if your focus is to come up with something different, then your focus is on the past... instead of the present...
At least that's my mindset... I don't worry or care what others have shot, I just focus on what I have in front of me.
its truly an exceptional image. I would tweak it a bit in dodging and burning to my personal taste, which of course may be different from yours and others. I would doge the cabin and the top right corner. I would also back off every so slightly on the saturation slider.
It is a wonderful image.
