Spectacular shot, Jeff. Great story. Just watched a Nat'l Geo program on Big Sur. A portion of it focused on the life of the cougar there. Wouldn't have wanted to be in your shoes. You are way braver than I am. Glad you made it safely. Oh, the crazy things we do to get a shot.
Great capture...The rock really locks the fg in this image!. The depth, scale, emotion is really enhanced by it. I really like the greenish light in the left bg corner. Adds to the dimension of the sky!
Real nice job!
Story great also!

I had a similar experience when shooting at night in Joshua Tree. It's amazing how our brain plays tricks on us.
You captured an amazing picture. It was well-thought-out, well balanced and the post-processing works for me. Congrats and welcome to FM!

Hi Jeff. This is really beautiful! Love the surreal feeling. I think way too often photographers think they can just plop in the Milky Way and forget about the rest of the image, but here that is certainly not the case. The turbulent wave action of the waters create such a creamy and light texture on the surface of the water that helps add to the mysterious/calm/cool mood. The rock placed directly in the center of the frame further helps with creating that mood. Really nice, truly!
Congratulations! We also have to be very aware of cougars in Alberta as well. I always have my large knife and bear spray at the ready the moment I step out of the car.
