Can you please post a list of what you bring to the trips in Africa and how you pack all your gear and keep it away from thieves. I am have not flown since taking up photography and wonder how does someone get all their gear safely to these many places that you all visit. I sure don't want to leave any important gear home or in a place where TSA or others can get it easily.

Eric....wonderful shots. 20,000 posts and so informative. Like you (and many on this forum) I have a keen interest in the Big Cats. Your work is rjust wonderful. Hope all is well with you (and your newly extended family). I need to write you a PM for some advice but as it is Halloween we have a household full of kids.... and this is in the UK! Halloween is big over here now.

Eric,
You are the undisputed King o' Big Cats! These are all spectacular. I watched your slide show and enjoyed it so much I went and got a mess of co-workers and played if for them too! They were all blown away with the astounding array of shots you have been fortunate enough to collect. All they kept saying is "WOW!", "Ohhhh, that's beautiful!", "Look at the eyes!". Keep them coming sir. Many of us live vicariously through your big cat pics.

I will be happy to do that in a separate post...there are many threads here on "gear to Africa" and there is no perfect or "right" kit...but I will be happy to put in my $.02.

Hey Mark, thanks so much and I am really enjoying my life as a grandparent...I get to have dinner at 3pm and in a few years will get a discount at the movies and buses ....When I lived in London Halloween wasn't very big...but there were places one could go where all year round it looked like Halloween
Shoot me a note when you have a chance and don't OD on chocolate!

Jim, thank you so much for your much too kind words..putting the slide show together was a labor of love but I think some of my cats who didn't make the video are pissed off ...I may have to do "Cats 2" but I promise it won't be to the tune "Memories"
I think you did catch on to what I always think is the "hook" that attracts the viewer and that is the eyes....they are quite expressive in cats...when they fix you with a stare it is as though they are looking into your very soul....quite an experience when it happens.

Congrats on the milestone Eric
It has been a real pleasure to first meet you on the forum and then to shoot with you on a particularly miserable day and THEN to spend the better part of 2 weeks with you riding around in the bush of Bots (that was a life changing experience for me, thanks again ). I have learned plenty from you and have always enjoyed your sense of humor. This is a remarkable post, I would hate to show you what my images from so long ago look like I'm sorry I'm late to the party but heck I'm here now! My hat is off to you my friend
