Monday my last client photo shoot was in a town/area that I don't go to often. The route home had me going though a small town that this river runs through. As I approached the bridge I slowed down get a look at the surrounds and instantly knew I was stopping to take some photos. The array of summer and autumn colours with the late day light and glass like water was too much to pass up!
For almost all my autumn photos this year I have been using my polarizing filter. It's like it was designed for autumn colours and sunlight. I just love what it does to the colours and tones. Unfortunately, it has some downfalls like dark blobs in the sky if you shoot wide.
The first image is almost a 180 degree panorama and so I had a nasty dark blob to deal with. Well worth the effort in fixing it. I took this from the bridge. The elevated view really helped the composition and the rock in the river was a nice bonus. This image I am facing south. I also used a Lee 0.6 GND with my polarizing filter.
The second image is another panorama but shot with my 70-200 zoomed in. This time facing north and I got down to the shore for a lower perspective. The trees from the opposite side of the river were nicely casting shadows on the shore creating many nice shapes.
