This is a series of images that took me almost two years to capture. The sandbar changes shape daily and I've never seen it appear this way again. The water is tidal and the currents are strong here plus there is most always a stiff breeze. It also happens to be a fishing hot spot so there is almost always someone on it. On a cold Feb. night I got lucky. The tide was out and lower than normal and the wind was almost non existent and fishing season was over. I took three compositions and the colors changed from the yellow you see here, then to blue and finally to orange. The first image Canon licensed from me for use in their European Canon EOS 550D Camera Brochure in 2009. The second image was bought by the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge, Md. and the third image received 1st place in the 2008 International Photography Awards "Sunset" category and took second place in Popular Photography magazines "Your Best Shot" last September. Thanks for looking, Mike C.
Beautifully done. It takes the mind of an artist to visualize and create images like these. I see from your online gallery that I was correct about that
Thanks Jeff, it was a nice bonus that the images did so well with publishers and the public. I appreciate that you took the time to comment as well. Take care, Mike.
Thanks Ben, I've only tried one in black and white and it looked decent but I preferred the color in the end. Thanks for the comment and for having a look too! Be well, Mike C.
