So I finally made it to the place. It simply is incredible. I will visit it again soon (winter time perhaps) for sure. This was my first trip there so it was more or less a scouting trip. But I did take a few keepers...
Here is one.

Hey Greg,

What a cool shot. I am glad you made it back in there. How was the road going up into it, that sand hill?

I like the light in this and the leading lines. The sun feels like it should be a little brighter, like maybe you recovered that area a little too much. Might just be a judgment call though.

Interesting shot. I'm confused by the apparent light from the right front, yet the sun is behind the rocks. Something seems wrong here. Was this artificially lit?

Very nicely done. The lighting is a little confusing but still and enjoyable image.

This is a nice presentation Greg!

A nice composition to be sure, but what I notice with you and a few of the other exceptional photographers here is that your post processing skill really stands out as your own style. It's the synergy between the image taking and what happens afterwards that can make or break a photograph and makes a huge difference.

A very small thing, but it's correctly referred to as "White Pocket", not "White Pockets."

Fabulous image Gregg. One image or mulitples stacked?

I always look for EXIF data as a learning experience and am frequently disappointed that posters don't include it.

Hi All.
Yes, this was a couple of images (2 f stops apart) stack. But, darn it, I may have dim the light too much, like Jim said. I was tired yesterday when I was processing it so give me a break

The sand is deep in a few places but with a good 4x4 everyone can make it. I didn't have a 4x4 so I hired a guide that took me to this place (oh and no, he didn't deflate his tires at all, no need for that). I stayed there over the night too. Man, it was a bit freaky running around it at night. There was not a soul there, just some coyotes fighting or hunting (the noise was terrible). But I didn't care, I was taking shots like crazy. I had only about 1 hour to take my Milky Way shots because the Moon was rising. It finally did and Milky Way faded away. But I've got several good MW images. I also took advantage of the 3/4 bright Moon and continue shooting with it up. It was a great trip. But, like I said I didn't know the place (and the most appealing locations) so next time I go I'll wait at the right place for the right light.

The image has correct lighting. Nothing wrong with the little hills being illuminated by the sun. The sun isn't whole either, just it's small porting breaking through the rock in the upper right. I just should have left it brighter and all would look more natural. So, good eyes to you guys, now I too see the problem. What was I thinking?
Anyway, I may go there again and at one point organize my nightly workshop there. I actually have all arranged already. This place is too good looking and I'm sure lots of us here would love to go and spend a night there. I have so many ideas about kind of images, composition etc. etc. we'd take there (at night and day). I'll post some of my Milky Way shots little later today or tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about.

I also went to Arches NP, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon and a few "secret" places you don't normally know/hear about. The guide I hired (only for white pocket) took me to some off road location I didn't know existed. I'll post some cool rocky formation shots from these places also...

This inspired me to think about a guide for some remote Utah locations. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to share guide info on the Trip location forum?

Ben, I'm not sure why you want a guide, but I'm sure your truck would make it. I had no problem getting there, and to South Coyote Buttes, with my Jeep. I chickened out on sleeping in the Jeep, but might do it next time.

For the guides knowledge of locations. Some places would be outside my range. I have camping gear in my truck, including a tent if I need it. I have been to most of the easy places around Moab. Now I want to get to the places Ckarr goes to.

Good thinking.... Here is one from these "other" locations I didn't know existed. It was quite deep into the Indian's land and in some cases quite steep up the hill. A 4x4 is a must.

The second image is from Stud Horse Point which is not far from Page and on Public Lands, either BLM or NPS as it is very close to Lake Powell.
