p.2 #1 · Tatahatso Morning

"For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity."
Humm.. you went one more time! Skunked 8 times.. and finally.. BOOM!!
Simply Incredible, Indeed!

What does that have to do with this photo? So the wicked never get good photos? How are you defining who is righteous and who is wicked?

I am a avid admirer of your work Mark and think you have done a great job of processing the image but I find the 14mm a bit too wide for the shot. It flattens the landscape too much for my taste but maybe printed it may look fantastic.

Wow! A killer foreground with amazing clouds!! This is an example of my wife not getting it when you you need to keep going back to a location!!! I can't even count the number of times the clouds looked promising all afternoon - even an hour before sunset - only to have them disappear when the would have been blazing with colour!

A very unique combination of elements with the main feature here being the sky, which suddenly looks cut-off.
In my opinion, keeping the land the way it is and adding another 2-3 times of the sky would lift the picture visually into entire new category. The 14mm was very wide already but resorting to either 3 vertical or horizontal frames stitched together to make the final image portrait-oriented with the sky dominating the land could be the way to go in this case.

Thank you,
SergeyT.

Thanks everyone for the great compliments and encouragement. It really means a lot to me. I'm glad you like the image. Even more glad my clients got great shots. Sorry it took this long to respond. I had a computer issue that required a new operating system drive and complete re install (to a solid state drive - which rocks!) so I was dealing with that for a few days... But I am officially back on the grid now, at least for a few weeks before I head out for more workshops...

Thank you Bruce! It's not a problem.

I will say that this looks (at least to me) pretty close to what I remember it looking like (except for scale). I don't think anything got flattened out. I did do a slight perspective blend (something I innovated but have yet to share) to get the right look on the bend. It may be too flat for some peoples taste, but at least to my eye, I think this may pretty faithfully represent the way it looks. In fact it looks a lot like a zoom to me.

Yes, I could see that. Thank you. Good idea. We may have to settle on my vertical version.

I don't agree with adding more sky, but to each their own.

Enjoy the solid state drive Mark, they do indeed rock. It's pretty awesome to have Photoshop open in less than 2 seconds.

Fantastic shot Mark! Very rare sky too. I see those just once or twice a year.
