Here's one from me with TC14III.
I'm very happy of the sharpness & contrasts even full open. I will now use this without stepping down the one stop, as I always did with my old TC14II

Would this TC be good for the 70-200/2.8 VRII?
Yes, it would be perfect. The 70-200 f2.8 VRII with the new 1.4x TCIII is a great match and the IQ drop is almost impossible to see. Even the old version it was almost imperceptible.

Just received mine from BH. Took a test shot on Df + 500mm/4VR + TC14-EIII in my backyard.
The 500VR was spot on with Df, "0" MA needed. But with this TC combo, needed +14 MA, seems a little too high, what do you think?
The new TC's optical performance continues to amaze me. The focus distance here is about 67 m! D800, f/7.1, 1/500, 700 mm, ISO 560. After several weeks of regular use I'd say that initial AF acquisition in dark low-contrast conditions - i.e. zeroing in on brown deer standing in brown tall grass before the sun's fully up - occasionally feels a tad less sure-footed than with the bare lens, but I reckon that's a given when using f/5.6 AF in low light.

It was known from day one when the new TC was introduced.
No probs, I discovered it while doing my research before purchasing (I didn't follow the original announcement). I'm sad because AF-S 300/4 is the best lens in the world in its class

Which is the reason why TC14 E III is not compatible with the AF-S 300/4
Quote by Nikon:
Because the maximum aperture coupling ridge and minimum aperture signal post are eliminated with the AF-S TELECONVERTER TC-14E III, “FEE” is displayed on the camera body when these lenses are used, disabling shooting.
Nikon did it on purpose, the reason is stupid.... Anyway it doesn't matter for me anymore, I'm tired of waiting for a lightweight stabilised supertelephoto from Nikon and I'm buying the new 400/4 DO II (2.1kg) and a 7D Mark II (and a 1.4x III extender which obviously doesn't have compatibility issues)

I'm tired of wating for a Professioal grade DX body from Nikon and your option sounds good to me as well.
