I went on an incredible trip to Peru this summer, birding near Manu National Park. It was the most productive week of birding I've experienced.

Here are a few highlights, all shot with the Canon 1DX and 500L II.

Excellent set from a tough shooting environment. Very well done. The Coquette has eluded me to date but it's so fabulous to see your stunning male. Superb bird. Your Rush Tyrant is a beautiful creature as well. Made my morning, thank you very much indeed.

I'll say this was a great trip! The colors explode but even the owl is gorgeous. Fabulous shots and can't wait for another installment.

You've got my vote, Jim! Outstanding set of images! They are all stellar but my favorites would have to be the Reddish Hermit, the King Vulture and the cock-of-the-rock. Very well done considering the conditions (6400 ISO on the cock-of-the-rock!)

Thank you for the kind words, Phil. I'm glad you enjoyed them. I about burst when the coquette perched in front of me. Same feeling when the rush-tyrant came out of the reeds. Very elusive, that one.
