These white-tailed portraits are exquisite….the best I've seen.
I'm guessing #2 is an older doe…at least 4 plus years of age, but not sure. I have aged scores of them. With all the hunting pressure that deer are under, one does not see a doe with a face like that too often.
Were these taken on a non-hunting preserve? I believe older white-tailed does have longer snouts, often with a slight curve in them. But you won't find that in any wildlife manual. Just my humble observations.
I am guessing that she is the matriarchal leader of a larger group of white-tails. Now watch you say that those are spots on her.
It must be very enjoyable to be located in close proximity to a herd of deer such as this.
