I loved this first shot, but it is family so I am probably a little prejudiced. My nephew and his wife lost their first baby at birth and this is their second. This shot is the moment the baby was laid on his Mom. If you look closely there are tears of joy running down her cheeks. This was my first time to shoot a birth and this one was extremely emotional.
The second shot is about 10 minutes after birth and my nephew is checking out his hair.
I had no idea what I was doing but was happy to do it for them.
These are wonderful! For this young couple who lost a newborn it would be impossible to describe the emotion in the moments when the baby arrives healthy and well.
You captured the instant a fearful situation turned to joy!
Congratulations on a remarkable photographic achievement by a heart that had to be racing 100mph!
Thanks so much for all the kind words. And, Unclechuck, yes I was especially nervous when there were so many people around at the exact time the baby was born that I couldn't get a viewpoint.. This couple literally lived a tragedy which I didn't go into all the particulars. I did get shots of the baby just as the doctor lifted it out, but not perfect ones and I would never share those because of privacy. I was literally jumping and wiggling. There were at least 6 or 7 people (all medical personnel except for Dad and me) around the bed. Obviously I was the least important and would not have ever interfered, just did the best I could. The top 2 pics were my favorite for the day. The second one looked wonderful even after I cut it down in resolution until I loaded it on here and FM did crazy stuff with the fourth one. No idea what that is about.
