This is the farthest into the front of these falls that I can get to somewhat safely. Just right of this image beside the rock in the FG it is so deep that I can't reach the bottom with my tripod fully extended. With the water rushing so hard it would be suicide to try and figure that out. I originally wanted to cross over the top of the falls to the other side and almost made it but one spot was too deep for my hip-waders. Time to buy some chest-waders. This was taken after sunset. A second exposure of the moon with a zoom lens was used to replace the moon. The great thing about wide angle lenses is the wide view it can capture but it can make moons look unrealistically tiny.
What a really cool shot! Perhaps crossing over would yield other great compositions, but I would say this is one sweet composition. Nice work with the moon too, it looks totally realistic in size.
Beautiful shot Scott! Love the water; nice and creamy in the verticals, but looks almost like stop action ss on the horizontal portion of the water in upper left of falls.
Great idea swapping in a slightly larger moon. Looks just right to me.
Scott,
Beautiful shot, as always with you. As a longtime fisherman with a lot of wader experience, I'd be hesitant to get more than thigh deep into fast flowing water just above a waterfall. Maybe with several pounds of lead in the feet----

Thank you all so much. I've been going back to this place a few times now this week to get my sunset. So far, I haven't had much luck on the sunset I want but I have a few more shots I plan to share. I am surprised how fast the water is going down and how much smaller the falls have gotten in the last 2 weeks. At this rate it will almost dry up by autumn. Which sucks because this place really colours up in fall but with no water it wont be that interesting of a photo opp. We'll see how it plays out!
Excellent image and capture Scott, I feel this is the strongest image that you have ever posted here on FM. Great composition and nice PP help bring this image to the forefront.
