Thanks for letting me post all these! All pictures were shot with a Nikon D800 with 24-70g and 85 1.4g. Einstein 640 with a 51" PLM with a diffusion sock and natural light.

Several more-than-lovely images here. I'll bet the family is thrilled. The opening group have a hazy, lacking mid-tone contrast feel, with blocked shadows. That may be deliberate, because you clearly avoid that in the subsequent shots.

Congratulations on such nice work.

Thanks John! Yes the editing is deliberate :-)

I think the third image is my favorite, but many are very good. The lighting generally looks even without overpowering, which is a plus to my untrained eye. Was there a secondary light or reflector? I thought I saw two catch lights in the eyes in some images. Good looking family.

I think the catch lights in the eyes in many of these belong in a studio setting. Outdoor shots with these catch lights look very odd to me.

Thanks! There was not a secondary light or reflector. Some of those toward the end were shot in natural light with nothing but the sky as a catchlight. Maybe you are seeing a couple different parts of the sky in their eyes?

Great photos and great balance with the light. Nice mix of moments and posed shots. Some of the moments might be nice as b&w. You don't really need an critique from the likes of me as far as photography skills go. These are probably cropped in editing already but if these crops are mostly SOOC then I like to always consciously leave some extra space around many of my family photos so it's easier when it comes time to sell those bigger prints with different dimensions (especially helpful on canvas orders). I only say that because these tend to be more tight than not but I realize we are probably not seeing all that was originally there. I imagine you're already ignoring critiques on catchlight shapes but if you're not then you should be.

Keep up the good work!

These are really well done. I do feel like most of these could have been captured with similar natural light, BUT the catch lights in their eyes really make the faces and expressions pop for me.

Nice work!

Thank you! I have been using this location (#1-#15) for a couple years and I have always struggled with it. Its very dark and green casts usually blanket the skin. This was the first time I have felt great about the photos I captured down there. The Einstein was able to correctly light the skin and eyes of the subjects which made my life easy! #16-#20 are shot it natural light that was just perfect!

A number of fine captures here, with #3 being my hands-down favorite.
