Aw man, damn you! I woke up on the 8th to find a half dozen aurora notifications in my email after the latest activity spike. Looks like you have a later bedtime then me
Just wondering if you tried boosting the iso slightly to get the exposure time down a bit? I would like to see a bit more fine details in the sky and I've read that anything past 10 seconds is pushing it to freeze the aurora action. If not, maybe some midtones contrast would help define the sky a bit better? Maybe not though.
Sorry you missed out. Had I not still been awake I would have too.
If I had better gear I would be able to get shorter shutter speeds and still get a usable image. Believe it or not even at 25s this image really does represent the aurora I saw. It was not fast moving aurora.

Wonderful shot Scott! I was in Iceland in March and had 3 weeks of bad luck with auroras.
Oh my, that must have been a major let down! They seem to have aurora almost every night and to have 3 weeks with nothing. Yikes! Sorry to hear that!
Winter before last I was really looking forward to as it was expected the sun would be more active and possible produce many CME's and hoping many aurora shows. Not sure I got one good photo of aurora that winter. Or when there was it was overcast! Can almost never win! lol
Here is one more from this night. I didn't think it was necessary to start a new thread for this photo so I will just post it here.
