The first few as John mentioned are a bit busy. From 5 onwards they are great. I think 5 is my favorite even though 8 and 9 have a great backdrop.
I know a couple of dancers and might have to try an urban series.
Thanks, Bud! You definitely have to get your dancers out there and do this. I'd love to see what you came up with.

Looks like fun...the last is my favorite....nice drama in that one.
Thanks, Mike! While I like shooting the daylight ones, that last one is my favorite as well in part because the look and style is such a departure from the usual shots.

Thanks gempixel, Tony, Arthur and Paul! gempixel, I really liked how her red hair played out especially in that shot. Paul, we went with earthy tones on the dancers so they didn't compete with the color around them. In No. 1, the BG was too busy, I didn't squeeze the lens and get the separation I wanted. But I'm okay with the BGs in the other shots. I totally can see how others can find the BG too busy, tho.

Thanks, Sharona! 1-5 are shot on the SW side of The Art Institute building, I just love shooting there! No. 6 is shot at the Millennium garden, between the Pavillion and the Art Institute. Are you in Chicago?
No, I am in Nebraska Ron. But Chi-Town is only an hour flight from here, and my husband and I love to go there for a weekend. Haven't been in awhile, though!

These are great Ron. Definitely some of your best work. Are the outdoor shots lit too (I think you mentioned Speedlites on #10)? Also what lenses are you using?

Let me know the next time you come here. If we can't catch each other due to schedules, I can at least give you some tips about some great shooting locations if you'd like.

Thanks! In these pics, the only one not using natural light is 10. That one has two speedlights, one with a MagMod blue gel.
Lens is pretty much primarily the 70-200 f/2.8. The only one not with the 70-200 is No. 9, shot at 16mm on my 14-24. Kept the dancer centered in this shot to minimize the lens distortion on her limbs.

Wonderful set, Ron.
I notice that in every shot, you have outstanding background separation, which makes the models stand out, even in the busy environmental settings you chose.

This looked like a super-fun shoot Ron!
Why the change in processing for #10 though?
Love 1, 2, 4, 8. Am wondering how 2 would look a bit wider and 8 extra wide.
- Peter
Hey Peter, thanks! No real change in processing for 10, aside from adding a grunge texture. The difference was in the shot itself and how I was going for really soft lighting to give it the look more of a painting.
To go wider with 2 would have made the dancers smaller in the picture than they were, and brought in some trees. However, I did shoot 8 much wider. Here you go (and I'll add to the OP):
