Not a good scan from a slide-
and a couple of big crops- equals not much hope for enlarging pictures within pictures.
But WTH! I thought I'd try .
The city was Irkutsk- USSR at the time.

Hi Charlie,
While I like the cropped versions as each has an interesting expression, I prefer the wide (uncropped) image the most because of the greater sense of depth, and the comparison one can make of the two vendors, and the better sense of place.

Thanks guys.
Yes- I did a lot of traveling in N. America AND around the world back before the days of digital cameras.
I also prefer the last image- but as I was looking at it, I realized there were two additional compositions within it. So What The Heck! .

If we lived in Irkutsk, we'd probably look like that too.
Irkutsk isn't that bad. I spent some time around there, Ulan Ude (a nearby industrial hub) and the Baikal coast back in 2003. I suspect the region was in worse economic straits in 2003 than in 1994, when the Soviet era subsidies to the East were just starting to fade.

Great images. I like the uncropped version best as well.

Was all around pretty decent when I visited in 2008, one of the nicer cities that I've seen. Cool pictures btw.
