Very cool shot Jim! I also prefer the one with the green pool because the cloud action in the sky is better on that one too.
Thanks Ben, that was my thought too with the clouds. But it's glad to hear someone else think the same way. I may go back and find a frame a little closer to the one with the green pools where the clouds haven't moved quite as much and process that one.

Wow!
That shot is psychedelic!!!!
I like the green pool emphatically. It puts the shot over the top in color without looking 'unnatural'. I'd say Sunny has good taste. lol. Color balance of an astro landscape, I have come to believe in my very limited experience, needs to be whatever works with the foreground - blue to grey, dark to light.
The second one is, as said, is virtually identical to the former except for the green pool and very very good as well. I suppose it comes down to a matter of taste. I haven't checked your blog in a while, but I expect to see your light painting technique described in detail for my next trip. I tried some light painting of mesa arch and it looked silly. Good thing the sun rose.
Great shot.
Man... you guys are going to give Sunny an even bigger head. Sometimes I end up calling Sunny as Charlie Brown by mistake his head is already so big...
Thanks for your thoughts, but man... now I better go update my blog, I haven't done that in a while. It's hard to keep a blog going...
Both are terrific, but, sorry, Sonny, but I like No. 2 a lot better.
The scene is otherworldly enough and the green pool seems to be piling on. Plus green pool distracts a little from the geyser, which is the main event. I think No. 2 has enough nice, little bonus features -- the cloud movement, stars and splash of light on the horizon.

BOOO! Definitely the green pool. I know you're old and stuck in your ways... but...that green pool shot is AWESOME!
you should just remove that 2nd shot.
I have to say agree with Sunny on this one, Jim. Both are outstanding images. However, the first image with the green pool really pulls my eyes in and keeps it there. Nicely done!
Excellent work here Jim. Very fine processing on both of them. I've a slight preference for the natural light; but also love the green pools. Sure wish I could have caught up with you two.
