So I'm still having color issues with pro photo 6.1. Here is a side by side of what i'm having so much trouble with. With earlier versions of pro photo my files had a nice rich blue in the sky and water. With the last couple versions of pro photo it's like the blue is desaturated and turns gray. This happens with all of the color settings. I can photoshop the color back into the files, but it I really like how the vivid setting colored a bright day time shot. By the way the image on the left is what i'm getting out of pro photo, this is exported with the vivid color setting and saturation turned up a couple of notches. So I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and maybe I have a weird setting that i'm over looking. Thanks
Just FYI, but B&H and Adorama have the Merrill's for $400 off instant rebates right now, so $599 brand new.
Not really any cheaper than ordering via a Japanese seller on Ebay, but for those that want to get the camera a little quicker, not deal with customs etc, might be worth your while to check it out

Millsart sounds agreat price and hope someone see's the post who would like to try these cameras. Fortunately in the UK they have been at a low price for most of the year and it encouraged a lot of people to give them a try. Those that I know who did so have enjoyed their experience.
Be nice to have few more posting to this thread as well.

B&H also has the DP2Q for $499, however, it now appears back ordered
Those were $999 just a few months ago......
This is a flip from the price drops of the Merrill's . here in the UK the Merrill price drops came several months before the US. Now the US is having a big drop for the Quattro without any movement here in the UK much at all.
I have been interested in these cameras for some time and I follow this thread regularly - there is superb photography shown here and that such excellent photographers use these camera speaks well to the quality of the cameras themselves. It need not be restated that they are controversial cameras due to perceived ease of use (not a problem for me; I have been taking pictures for 50 years and don't mind having to control the camera - I shoot my modern digital cameras in manual exposure almost exclusively and still use a Spotmatic occasionally) and by all accounts horrible software. It isn't that the output is not wonderful but life is too short to spend inordinate amounts of time processing pictures (I already spend hours at a time doing that with faster software).
But the curiosity lingers and the news posted above of price drops fans the flames. So now I have two questions:
1- Are there significant differences in handling and image quality between the Merrill and the Quattro?
2- Is anyone using Raw Therapee to handle the Sigma RAW files, assuming it is true that Raw Therapee can do this? If so, is it any better than the Sigma software?

You know a lot of the downsides of SPP and the cameras are not an issue if you enjoy quality. For me there is one only and that is not having a reliable colour rendition above 250 iso. (yet sometimes even 400iso surprises me) but B+W iso at 2000 or more iso is fine using the blue channel.
Everything else using the camera is a bit akin to holding say a small Olympus trip type camera, yet more convenient. Plus quicker turn round than film.
I'd also say, whatever anyone says, it is definitely a camera that you have to experience to make your own mind up. You will love it or Not I dont think there is an in between. Sadly all my Full Frame and m4/3 gear is collecting dust, except for a very occasional need for some sports event work I do.
There are actually some really nice and affordable grip options for the Merrill series
There are some stick on hand grips that work pretty well, or for about $45 via Ebay China, some pretty nice grip/L-plate combo's.
I actually really like these as the Merrill's need a tripod/monopod fairly often, so having some dovetail rails on both orientations make for quick and easy changes. Way easier than flopping a ball head on its side, messing with screwing the camera on/off the head etc.
Plus you've got a nice grip on the side that makes the camera more comfortable to hold, yet still access battery and card. Adds like 2oz to the total weight, and the vertical L rail is removable if you don't need it.
I consider some sort of grip a "Must have" because the camera is simply rather slippery and awkward to hold otherwise. Its like a polished metal bar of soap.
At the bare minimum, I'd stick some gaffers tape on the front or something to give a little gripiness
