She posted it earlier with some encouraging words from someone else. When first viewed this morning I thought it was a stock photo that went with the saying she posted. Tonight my wife says tonight, " did you see the picture your daughter posted of herself!?"..........my response, " what! That picture of someone hanging off a rock was her!!"......I'll say it again,"Lord help me...."

As scary as that looks, it also looks like the belay is anchored on top with the belayer below, a pretty safe way to climb. She's got a helmet on. If she was free climbing, I'd be worried. No big deal here. I once did a climb called The Great White Book, next to Tenaya Lake in Yosemite. Scared the crap out of me. Thank goodness for bad knees...

Not cactus. Joshua Trees. Big difference. You ought to come out to our freaking amazing California desert, but don't come after Easter or before Thanksgiving. If she's in Joshua Tree, it's the perfect time of year there now and one of the most popular winter climbing spots in the country. Way too hot in the summer. You can also go and find the place where they burned Gram Parson's corpse.

It is Joshua Tree. They go there all the time. She lives in Long Beach and is graduating from CSULB in a couple of months......Peter, I try to learn something new every day and with the Gram Parson's nugget, @ 6:30am, 10 minutes after getting out of bed I have already achieved that goal.....

Ah.... okay, I stand corrected. I grew up in California but not sure I ever made it to the Joshua Trees. Have to put that on my list now.
Yes Ron, slap on your landscape photographer hat and do it.
Great place for photography.....

I'd be very proud were I you - gutsy girls is what the world needs more of! There are many worse things she could be doing.... truly!
Very proud....She is a tough little girl. Been through much in the short time she has been on this planet. One of her best friends was killed in an auto accident hours after talking to her, she is a cancer survivor and also survivor of a mugging on the streets of Los Angeles at night......So that big rock is a very small thing to her.

It's good to see her grabbing life by the horns. Looks like she was raised right.
