Spellbinding! I would find it hard to sleep at such a location. I'm totally amazed the capture you have of the Andromeda Galaxy at 14mm and 30 secs! The Patagonia's are definitely on my must do list!

OMG, that's astonishing! I spent 3 weeks down there a few years ago, but saw nothing like that. Fantastic image. I'm going down again later this year, I'll look for that sky.

Hi All,
Here is another shot from Patagonia I managed to upload today. This is the beautiful Fitz Roy mountain in El Chaltén, Argentina. The place has virtually no light pollution and many stars are easily visible to human eyes. Exposing for 30 seconds (only 30 seconds at ISO 800 and 14mm at f/4.0) I was able to capture some southern Milky Way clouds as well. The mountain was illuminated by the rising Moon so it came out brighter than I expected.
FYI, the bright spot in the center top is actually Andromeda Galaxy. I'll post some more shots later in one or to weeks, because it seem that the further I go the less the Internet connectivity there is

Congrats on a beautiful shot. I was there six yrs ago and have the same shot but during mid day. Wish I had thought to drive back to the spot during the night. My avatar is Cerro Torre which is shown on the left of your photo (top covered in fog).
Trivia time: Fitz Roy was named for the Capt of the Beagle, the ship that sailed to the Galapagos. The on-board naturalist was some guy named Darwin.
Greg,
very cool shot! What an amazing location. Great creativity. I'd like to see the mountains and clouds pulled back a bit, by perhaps a stop or two. The comparison would be interesting. Way to go!
