Last few days California is getting much needed rain/snow, a few storm systems in fact battered the California coast. As they say, 'bad weather is good weather' and I headed to Santa Cruz over the weekend.
The sunset was just surreal. Although, the fury of the ocean sometimes made it really scary.
That day the waves lashed on the cliffs to the right. Normally, there is a sandy beach up to the bluffs to the left! There were also scattered showers (you can probably see the area to the left near the horizon, where it was raining). I managed to secure myself on a large rock and prayed for no rain as the sun came out
Great shot. Makes me want to fly to the coast asap and shoot. The humid atmospheric quality of the air is so different then we get here. Wicked light and colour
This place is between Santa Cruz and Davenport. Some people call it 'Panther Beach'. If you drive towards Davenport from SC, you would notice cars parked on the left of Hwy 1 about a mile before Davenport State Beach (unfortunately there is no other/better land mark near it).
It's a short steep climb down from the car parking area to the beach head but it's worth the effort.
