Happy New Year folks!
This is my first post for 2014 so you can say I'm pretty much a lurker for now..
The first shot was a result over a span of 3 unfruitful weekends - a "SPEED HUMPS 15 MPH" warning sign was visible from the shooting position (along a steep slope) which view can be lined up against a dry tree branch where this Merlin 'usually' perches resulting the spotlight effect. Despite the fact that one of the elements involved was man-made rather than by nature, I'm quite pleased with the outcome. The rest of the shots were from last December thru last weekend.

Absolutely incredible had you not mentioned the sign i would never have guessed and even though you did it is still my favorite. Please don't lurk anymore and post more of your awesome images .
These are superb Phoo. You are a master of techs but you are also gifted with a great eye. A potent combo demonstrated so well in these images. Some of these have what I call layers of goodness, meaning they are good on many different levels.
Terrific, sharp images. I saw a Merlin streak by me last week, perch momentarily, and then disappear. I got zilch!
Here you have various poses, predation, beautiful backgrounds.... Wow, well done!
Just excellent as always Phoo. I follow you on 500px so I get to see a lot of this stuff early but am glad you came back over here to share it to all of us.
