Jim, you know how I feel about the piers, but this one is really nice - the surfer compliments the pier very nicely. In fact, I hope you already offered a print to the facilities on the pier.
In all honesty, my initial reaction was "Wow, thats a beautiful sunset shot, but that surfer gotta go". But, after taking the whole scene in, the surfer really fits in very well with the reflection, his position and the direction he is running.
I do appreciate your honesty and glad you still like the shot. My focus was on the cool clouds and the reflection, but since it's a beach where surfing is king, I try to always be aware of the surfers as they can really help add some nice context to the shot then.

Excellent and lucky shot Jim!
But luck favors the prepared, as they say!
I like the little details, the water splash from the surfers trot, the little bird...
Hey Craig, I am glad you like the shot. I had the same thought in this that there was a lot of little elements that added up to the whole of the shot. I liked how instead of just one real visual element to focus on that there are several that all work in conjunction with each other.

Pretty cool image Jim! Like that running surfer and bird with that nice sunset. That surfer would probably pay a princely sum for this image if you can track him down.
Hey Tuan, thanks so much. I am already thinking the OC Fair, and this might just be one of my entries. Maybe the surfer will spot it there and want it?

Hi Milan, I am honored that you like this image especially knowing how you feel about piers!
I hadn't thought about offering a print, but I will think about about. Even the city of Huntington Beach might be interested...
