Ron you said you shot 7 shows.. did you shoot during performances or dress rehearsals? If during performances, how did you do this with an audience.. not to mention the shutter noise... Very curious about this.

Yep, good questions. I'd always shot dress rehearsals previously, and when I got involved with this company, he said he wanted the performances shot. He felt the intensity was higher during the performances, and I always thought that was a trade-off you had to have so as the photographer didn't disturb the audience.
Even in Quiet mode, the D4 makes seriously distracting shutter noises during a performance. So I bought a silencer for it, and now the shutter can still be slightly heard by those within about 3 or 4 feet around me, but it's not really distracting. I sit right next to people, right behind people as I shoot over their head, and I haven't had a single complaint. Obviously, before the show I let them know what I'm doing and to let me know if I'm disturbing them. The silencer works incredibly well. I have a cover for the body and the lens, but I just use the one on the body.
I have one too. Camera muffler or something like that. Interesting. Do you sell files or prints to parents or does the company pay you a flat rate or both?
I'm the official photographer for the company. They pick the shots they want for marketing, and then I sell to the parents. It's one of the two or three most expensive schools in Chicago, so I'm pretty lucky. Once the individuals pictures are approved by the dance school, they're posted in a gallery for the parents and dancers to see, and purchase prints from.
